What happens to RecoMelon when you change Shopify themes
Theme changes and RecoMelon behavior
RecoMelon remains installed at the app level, but Shopify theme-level configuration can differ by theme copy. After a theme switch, you should re-validate setup.
What to check after switching themes
- Enable RecoMelon in App Embeds for the new active theme.
- Re-add or verify PDP recommendation blocks in the correct template.
- Save and validate on live product pages.
Why this is necessary
Shopify stores embed toggles and block placements at the theme/template layer. Switching themes can reset or remove those placements.
Validation checklist
- PDP recommendations visible on top traffic products.
- No layout conflicts on desktop or mobile.
- Analytics events flowing after switch.
If recommendations do not appear
- Re-confirm App Embeds are active.
- Confirm block placement on active template.
- Hard refresh and retest in incognito.
