Quick Answer

If RecoMelon is not producing the expected commercial return, review exposure, recommendation quality, placement, shopper engagement and the measurement baseline before drawing a conclusion. A low result can reflect poor visibility or implementation as well as weak recommendation performance.

Start by identifying where the funnel is failing

A weak commercial result does not automatically mean the same thing in every store. Separate exposure, engagement, recommendation quality and conversion so the cause can be diagnosed.

1. Was the experience seen?

Check eligible impressions and placement. A recommendation placed too far down a PDP may have limited opportunity to influence shoppers regardless of match quality.

2. Did shoppers engage?

Low engagement can indicate weak relevance, unclear presentation or a discovery surface that does not match the shopper's need at that point in the journey.

3. Did engagement continue into useful discovery?

Review products explored, Dealbreaker™ interactions, add-to-cart behaviour and whether shoppers continued rather than returning immediately.

4. Is the baseline valid?

Account for promotions, seasonality, traffic mix and catalogue changes. Where possible, compare with a controlled test or a representative pre-launch baseline.

5. Is the right feature solving the right problem?

Shop Similar is for alternatives, Bundles™ is for complementary basket growth, and recovery experiences address interrupted journeys. Performance improves when the surface matches the customer problem.

Use InsightCore™ to guide the review

InsightCore™ can help separate activity from influenced outcomes and identify which products, placements and shopper decisions deserve further optimisation.
