Will RecoMelon slow down my site?
RecoMelon is designed to load discovery experiences without blocking the critical storefront render path, but performance should still be validated on the merchant's actual theme, devices and traffic profile. Placement, media weight and third-party scripts all contribute to real-world page performance.
RecoMelon should not become the critical path for rendering a PDP
Recommendation experiences are designed to load in a way that minimises interference with the primary product content and purchase controls.
Why real-world testing still matters
No app operates in isolation. Theme JavaScript, images, consent tooling, analytics and other third-party applications all contribute to storefront performance.
What to measure
- Core Web Vitals before and after implementation.
- Mobile as well as desktop performance.
- Representative high-traffic PDP templates.
- Behaviour when recommendation content or media is slow to arrive.
LiveGrid™ and richer media
UGC and video experiences naturally introduce heavier assets than simple product tiles. Use appropriate media optimisation and loading behaviour so rich content does not unnecessarily compete with the primary purchase journey.
Headless and custom themes
Custom implementations should follow the same principle: load RecoMelon at the appropriate point in the experience and measure the complete storefront rather than assuming integration architecture alone guarantees performance.
